Taiwan Spring 2012: Day 4 - 情境, Cing Jing to 鲁山 // 泡温泉。 猫咪。

So after spending the previous day on the road trip from Taipei - Cing Jing and visiting 青青草原 etc, we planned to head over to 鲁山 to 泡温泉/hot spring!

Found this pretty cool and beautiful minsu called 幸福小镇 at 鲁山which was about 20 mins car ride from Cing Jing. Arranged beforehand for the minsu owner of 幸福小镇 to come to our minsu at Cing Jing to pick us up for TWD300.

Take a look at the pretty minsu! I loooove staying at such minsu's in Taiwan. So unique and totally cool.

Individual woody cabins!

The only weird thing about this minsu is that there's no foodie place in the area! The minsu owner can drive you to WuShe to buy food/tidbits even meat and stuff to 烤肉 at the minsu haha, but we were too lazy so we tabao food and tidbits in!



Lunch time! My tummy was still feeling "upside down" because of the mountain roads and all gave me really bad motion sickness so leon ate alone while i went around to explore the area a little heh









So after lunch we wanted to go talk a relaxing stroll around the vicinity, and the minsu owner told us that they actually have another cluster of minsu a short 10mins walk away, those minsu are for bigger groups like 6-10 people etc!

So when we were walking out, lucky us bumped into the minsu owner and he fetched us to the other of his minsu!



SO PRETTY! The cherry blossoms of this minsu is still blooming, it's been raining that morning so alot of the cherry blossoms petals fell and made a really beautiful mess. (:
It's pink all over the ground and chairs and whatever surface the blossoms could fall on.

And we quickly realize that this is a total heaven for kitties, the minsu owner's are such great people, because they have such a big space anyway, so they actually adopted so many kitties. I think i saw like 20-30 kitties all over the place, and the minsu owner actually know every single kitty by their name and go greet and sayang them when he's back at his minsu every single day. So much love. If i have a huge house with lots of space i would probably adopt like crazy too.



And we went for some kitty sayang and teh-ing therapy too.



So comfy and even roll over to stretch his neck to let leon sayang awwww



I would love to nap at a place like this too. So carefree, nodding to sleep while looking at the cherry blossoms sway in the wind.

The minsu owner decided that this kitty nua-ed around enough and brought it out for a little walk, and she followed us out of the minsu area when we were leaving to go back to our cluster of minsu.



Saw the supposingly famous red bridge on our leisure walk back to 幸福小镇.





And a HUGEEEEE rose cabbage field just beside 幸福小镇 ! So pretty :D



Super neat or what?



We spent the day relaxing in our 幸福小镇 woody cabin, 泡温泉 & spent a rainy afternoon on the daybed watching 那年，我们一起追的女孩。

It was a really simple day, but that rainy afternoon was one of the most romantic ones i've had with leon. It just proves one thing, with the right person at the right place, doing something so simple together can be so happy and romantic. ☺

So a couple of weeks ago, i was invited to Anti-Oxidant Spa @ 1 Thomson Ridge to experience Ganbanyoku spa which means "Bedrock bathing" or "stone sauna" in Japanese.

▸ which is getting increasingly popular in Japan for the past 10 year and right now there are over 4'000 Ganbanyoku Spas in Japan, that's how popular it is!

Suli explained to us the many benefits of Ganbanyoku Spas and i finally understood why it is getting increasingly popular in Japan, some benefits are:

So Suli gave us our set of yukata, towels & locker key and we were ushered into the ladies & Gents to get ready for our *VIRGIN GANBANYOKU SPA -LOL!* and to change into our yukatas.



Ladies & Gents are both equipped with showers facilities, changing rooms & toilets (duh). Hahaha so clean it feels like home, i was a little shy the first time round but my consecutive trips there i felt right at home and just wrapped a towel out of the shower to go blow my hair/makeup etc.

During my first trip there i was too shy to do that with the other ladies in the toilet. Hahahah silly me.





Changed into my comfy yukata and ready for some Anti-Oxidant Therapy yo!

Our lovely therapist, Kassie was very kind to explain to us how about how Ganbanyoku Therapy works, basically this is the Ganbanyoku 岩盤浴 Spa Therapy room:



So basically the dry sauna spa room is maintained at a comfy 40-45degrees and is fitted with Black Silica tiles that you lie on for 45min to an hour per session, it naturally releases over 2 million negative ions/cm3, that will flow into your body to help the body perspire and “detoxify”.


◤ Ok you must be asking, Hey Fidel, so.. how exactly does it help with anti-aging & "preserving youth"?

Ganbanyoku spa increases the body’s core temperature, which results in overall health improvements, rejuvenation, relaxation and deeper sleep.
These attributes are all related to the enhancement of beauty.

You know how our body absorbs free-radicals (which causes, fine lines, wrinkles etc) on a daily basis because of pollution, UV rays such things that we cannot avoid being exposed to right?

So the negative ions that is absorbed into your body during the ganbanyoku spa eliminates the free radicals before it causes any harm to us!



You basically go into the spa therapy room, lie on the bedrock sauna and you'll perspire more than you have EVER perspired. Like seriously i perspired more just lying down there than ever as compared to running/zumcardio/cycling i won't even perspire as much!

Unlike traditional hot sauna / steam sauna, which is so awful because of the high humidity, it's so hard to breathe making it almost impossible to relax for me.

But in Ganbanyoku Spa it's super comfortable, if i'm there with leon we will chit chat for the whole session (if you're coming as a couple they usually try to put you in a private room)

If i'm alone usually i'll bring in my iphone/kindle to read or if i'm tired from a long day of work i'll just go in and fall sleep for the entire hour and wake up with nice glowy skin! How awesome is that. It's unbelievably relaxing and your muscles feels totally relaxed after the session! ♡

Profuse sweating carries off deeply embedded impurities and dead skin cells, leaving the skin glowing and immaculately clean. This is excellent for clearing psoriasis, eczema and acne.




Suli tells me that many of his customers base are japanese ladies and men in they're 20's to more mature age group, i guess it's SO popular in japan because by just relaxing at the ganbanyoku spa you can achieve and improve overall beauty by detoxification of your skin through the perspiration process.





But even though I perspired so much during the 1 hour session, there's no odour, saltiness or stickiness from the perspiration!

The sebum that is produced from the sebaceous gland supplies a natural coating for the skin and hair – making them both smooth and silky. It is recommended not to shower within two hours after the treatment to gain the most benefits to the skin and hair. This detoxification and rejuvenation of skins cells is what leads to the natural “glow” of the skin and the appearance of beauty.

Blogging about this makes me want to drive down now for a session of Ganbanyoku Spa! Shall make a trip tomorrow, hehe




So after the 1 hour session we were served with 2 mini cups of enzyme juice, there are 4 flavors: lemongrass, hawthorn, ginger & dragonfruit, i've tried them all and my favorite is the lemongrass one, super refreshing and yummy!





Actually one of the best things i've experience ever since i tried ganbanyoku spa is that.. i'm not longer constipated!!!!

It's crazy but since i'm young i've been having constipation problems, I'm probably the most constipated person in the world hahaha, for me going to the pooping once a week is like normal. Infact very good already. Lol and i know people who go to visit the doctor's because they didn't poop for 2 days.

So maybe that's why i've never really had good skin, cos i'm so constipated- literally full of shit and toxins. hahaha



So i know it's recommended not to shower at least 2 hours after the treatment but most of the time i'm rushing off so i'll try to sit around and read a magazine at the resting area for 30 mins then shower!



Shower amenities and some facial products are provided by Eucerin. But i always bring my own conditioner cos it's not provided.



They also provide deodorant, makeup remover, body lotion & hair dryer etc for vainpots like me who can't stand walking out of the spa looking like a wet messy dog.



▸ Updates:

I'm sooooo addicted to ganbanyoku spa at Anti-oxidant! Went again today, gotta say 'm loving it so far i'm finally seeing some results and i'm SUPER excited!!!



This was taken after the ganbanyoku spa session today and i wasn't wear ANY base makeup except a little eyeliner and pinky lip tint.

I used to have crazy awful open pores and now it's like POOF! Gone! Love it that it makes my skin look really glowy after the session and i NEVER ever had glowy skin even after expensive facial treatments etc. Only oily skin but never GLOWY!!!

And i realized that my skin is more toned /elastic & glowy as compared to before because of the increased circulation, it draws the skin's own natural nutrients to the surface.

Even tried applying a thin layer of hair mask before i go for the ganbanyoku spa and i'll come out with perfectly soft and awesome hair. hehe
